Mid-Ohio Race Report

Series: SVRA Group 6, Trans Am Series TA2

Driver: Scott Borchetta

SVRA: Big Machine Racing’s Scott Borchetta had another very successful weekend in SVRA Group 6 competition, continuing his undefeated season with wins in both feature events. In each Group 6 event he’s entered during 2021, he’s dominated the race in his red and white 1969 No. 98 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.

TA2: In Saturday’s TA2 event, Borchetta’s race started off strong. After rolling off the grid from the 14th position, he battled his way into the top 10 by lap 9. Borchetta fired off from the seventh position following a lap-17 restart and continued to run impressive lap times until a mechanical issue slowed him on lap 20. The team was able to make repairs and Borchetta made his way back out on the track to complete the race, finishing in the 22nd position.

“The Big Machine Racing Team had a really strong weekend at Mid-Ohio. We hit our goal with the Corvette in Group 6 by taking the pole in qualifying and winning both sprint races. In TA2, we had very good race pace but had an unfortunate mechanical issue that sent us to pit lane and put us several laps down. The focus now is on Road America!”
