VIR Speed Tour Race Report
Sept. 25-26, 2021
Location: Virginia International Raceway
Series: SVRA Groups 6 & 10, Trans Am Series TA2
Driver: Scott Borchetta
TA2: Scott Borchetta and the Scott Borchetta Racing team earned their second top-five finish of the season on Sunday at Virginia International Raceway. Borchetta rolled off the grid from 14th and consistently gained positions throughout the 31-lap race on the 3.27-mile road course. He entered the top 10 by the midpoint of the TA2 feature event and continued to pick off spots in the closing laps to take the checkered flag in fifth.
The result was Borchetta’s second-best finish of 2021 in TA2 competition. The driver of the No. 48 Big Machine Vodka Spiked Coolers Camaro scored a fourth-place finish at Road America in July.
SVRA: Scott Borchetta’s dream season in SVRA Group 6 continued with two feature wins on the weekend. He now has 20 Group 6 wins on the year with his 1969 Chevrolet Corvette and remains undefeated. In Saturday’s Group 10 feature event, Borchetta drove a competitive race, coming from the back to earn a bronze medal with a third-place result in his class. Capping off the weekend was a class win in Sunday’s Endurance Race.

“VIR is a big-boy track. It’s so fast, very technical and commands a driver’s full attention and race craft. Every time I was on the track this weekend, I learned something new. I have to give huge props to my team as the guys stepped up big, prepping and running three different cars in three different classes, all successfully.”
