Texas NXS Race Report
Tyler Reddick and the No. 48 Big Machine Racing team - partnered with JAG Metals, earn the team’s first ever win in Texas on May 21st, 2022. After running a strong race all afternoon, Reddick was able to take the lead with just 31 laps remaining and stay up front to take the checkered flag 1.825 seconds ahead of second place driver, William Byron.
Reddick began the weekend with a fast qualifying lap time of 29.598 - a time that would hold him on the pole position for Saturday’s race until a late qualifying run by JR Motorsports driver, Noah Gragson, moved Tyler to second place.
Saturday’s SRS Distribution 250 was action packed with 11 cautions in total accounting for 62 laps. At the end of Stage 1, Reddick in the No. 48 JAG Metals Chevrolet Camaro was in 14th position. Race leaders took to pit road before Stage 2 allowing Tyler in the No. 48 to move up – starting the second stage on the inside of row 2.
It was in Stage 3 with 31 laps to go, Tyler Reddick passed the No. 21 of Austin Hill and the No. 19 of Brandon Jones to take the lead. Reddick would hold off the field to claim his 10th career Xfinity Series win.
